Knitting seems to measure the rhythm of my life. Color changes, stitch patterns, gauge, and texture; whether I'm knitting a sock, sweater, vest, or scarf; the type of yarn I'm using; all of these factors are a kind of barometer to me. As those who know me will tell you, when asked if I made something the answer is never a simple "yes". There is always a story involved. Knitting gives form to my abstract ideas. As with all things in my life, inspiration is the key to why I knit. I have been interested in color, design, and the engineering involved in creating ... always. When my good friend and long time business partner taught me to knit, a new facet of our business began. The evolution from stained glass to graphic design and silk-screening to knitting was logical (at least to us). And so began the next phase...

I'm a knitter of many years, and since retirement have fallen in love with knitting socks. The colors, the designs, the symmetry, and the immediate satisfaction of a finished sock keep me entertained. I am inspired by cables, color designs and new techniques - and I love teaching knitting classes. There's so much to learn and explore - what better way than to do that around other knitters? That's why Tuesdays are my favorite days!

I've been knitting for over 40 years now, and still love it. My Mother taught me the Continental knitting method, which often attracts attention because it is not so common. What I love about knitting is creating beautiful clothing out of the air and being challenged by techniques that make a garment stand out. I confess to being a knitting nerd, and am working on becoming a Master Knitter through the Knitting Guild of America.
